THE RESULTS

POWER & ACCELERATION

Everyone on the build team was excited about the project but the actual results remained a mystery until the track events and performance data collection got started in October. There was real fear of the project car‘s 2 ton curb weight and the challenge to keep it comfortable on the street.



614 hp at the rear wheel - 722 hp at the flywheel

Acceleration is now world class running 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds (same as the $450,000 SLR McLaren). The quarter mile of concrete became the GT 700 KR’s friend when, on pump gas and street legal tires, the car posted a 11.39 run (faster than Ford GT and Lambo Gallardo) with a 126.6 mph trap speed (See time slip) while still sporting the road racing suspension package. The team is confident now that the car can see times below 11 seconds.

HANDLING

Power was not an issue, as the dyno proved, but handling was the big question. After the second test verifying the 4,000 lb car pulled 1.22 g’s on the skidpad (besting the $1 million Porsche 911 GT1), and after the GT 700 KR stayed planted at over 130 mph in the uphill S turns at VIR, the applause began.

BRAKING

The braking improvements also went far beyond expectations bringing the heavyweight to a stop from 60 mph in only 96 feet, and from 80 mph in only 154 feet (20% sooner than the $600,000 Saleen S7). Road and Track tests have never seen those performance numbers even on cars weighing 1,000 lbs less.
